Responsibilities

We exist to elevate Mayo Clinic’s decision-making maturity by building the frameworks, next generation tools, and bespoke analytical models to increase executive confidence that the right risks are being invested in and ensure that Mayo Clinic’s sizable resources are being nimbly deployed to accelerate the pace of change in pursuit of the 2030 Bold Forward vision.

You will deftly combine qualitative and quantitative data and be known as the financial wizards of the Strategy department. You will have a combination of strategy, healthcare subject matter expertise and a numbers orientation. You will be given the opportunity to dive into the most complex and important issues facing Mayo Clinic today. You will have access to executive leadership, operations/data subject matter experts, and talented strategy team members and have the EQ to navigate a highly matrixed organization.

Clients will look to you to perform comprehensive strategic evaluations leveraging strategic blueprints, business case formulation, operating model evaluation, and financial modeling with strong ROIC analysis to deliver recommendations in a concise and compelling manner.

The Senior Strategist provides consultative and analytical services, contributing to strategies for sites, shields, and other corporate priorities both independently and under the direction of a manager, director, or division chair. Responsible for ensuring deliverables are met and outcomes achieved of the assigned projects. Partners across multidisciplinary teams to drive innovation, challenge the status quo and implement solutions and programs to advance priorities. Serves as a thought partner providing strategic direction through analysis and insights that provide implications to our business model and drives strategic choices and the planning process in line with the long-term strategic plan. Establishes and maintains strong customer relationships with both internal and external partners. Serves as change agent, championing agile ways of thinking and working to enable teams and individuals for success. Drives excellence in financial acumen, communication (verbal, written and presentations), business and strategic planning, performance monitoring and reporting. Supports department, division and institutional projects.

There are several types of Senior Strategists within the Department:
-Developers focus on exploring new areas of strategy and identifying solutions to large and new endeavors.
-Planners focus on ensuring our strategies are being deployed well throughout the organization and work with key service areas to ensure our plans are appropriately developed and we’re making progress toward achieving our goals.
-Analysts focus on markets, customers and assess market conditions to determine relevant impacts to our current and future strategy. Analysts partner with strategy developers, planners and key service areas to develop timely, relevant and actionable insights that drive strategy and inform progress.

Qualifications

-Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience or a Master’s degree and 3 years of experience.
-Experience in strategic intelligence, strategic planning, strategy development, client services, business or management consulting, project management, operations, analysis or health care.

Compensation Detail

$119,392.00 – $173,118.00 / year. Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
