In this exciting role, you will take charge of all aspects of our Core Network Engineering function within the Connectivity Managed Services team, aligning with our contractual commitments specified in our Specific Conditions (SCs). As a subject matter expert, your responsibilities will encompass delivering top-notch service, 4th and 3rd line support, and high-quality managed services tasks to maintain consistent, optimised, secure, and automated systems and solutions throughout their lifecycle.
With a proven track record in delivering and supporting various system and network solutions, you’ll be equipped to handle complex 3rd line technical issues within your areas of expertise while effectively managing both business and customer expectations.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading solution delivery and technical planning for continuous improvement.
- Collaborating proactively with cross-functional teams to enhance solutions and services.
- Ensuring a deep understanding of solution requirements and their impact on overall design.
- Validating high-level designs, addressing gaps and uncertainties.
- Offering precise effort estimates for design and implementation.
- Crafting intricate Low-Level Designs (LLD) across various technologies.
- Ensuring LLD aligns with High-Level Design (HLD).
- Developing and maintaining detailed build, integration, and test plans for project execution.
- Executing solution implementation based on LLD.
- Rigorously testing solution components and overall technology builds.
- Providing regular status updates on build, integration, and testing progress.
- Demonstrating adaptability and support for project implementation.
- Taking the lead in strategic initiatives and fostering innovative research.
- Sharing expertise through colleague training and mentoring.
- Creating Statements of Work (SoW) and High-Level Designs (HLD) as needed.
- Participating in the on-call rotation when required.
What success looks like in this role:
- Ensuring Managed Services compliance within budget and contract parameters.
- Successfully execute projects meeting time, cost, and quality benchmarks.
- Meeting and improving SLA/OLA targets where applicable.
- Elevating CSAT and NPS scores for increased customer satisfaction.
- Delivering stable, secure, and resilient services.
- Demonstrating in-depth product and service knowledge and their customer value.
- Facilitating onboarding of new products and services, including technical verification, support documentation, monitoring functionality, and KPI reporting.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Strong UNIX/Linux sysadmin background
- Proficiency in scripting (iptables, SSH, Perl, Python, SQL)
- Expertise in network automation (Ansible, Salt)
- Specialisation in DNS and IP address management (Radius/Tacacs)
- Experience with IPv4/6 and RIPE NCC
- Knowledge of Service Provider Broadband, LNS, and Traffic Management
- Proficiency in Network Monitoring (SNMP, packet analysis)
- Degree or equivalent qualification in IT, communications, or a related field, or demonstrate a similar capability through practical experience.
- ITIL Foundation certification is a plus.
- PRINCE2 Foundation certification is advantageous.
- Relevant Linux qualification, such as RHCE, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Cyber-security qualification is a plus but not required.
- A networking qualification at CCNA level or higher is a plus but not required.
- Proficient in time management, prioritisation, and prompt escalation.
