What You’ll Do
As an Optics Engineering Co-op, you’ll work on cutting-edge optical communication products, handling tasks suited to your experience and skills. You may work on:

– Conducting design verification tests (DVT) of coherent transceivers to ensure compliance with optical specifications.
– Developing calibration and testing procedures for transceivers to ensure consistent high performance under varying conditions, such as temperature and aging.
– Creating methods, scripts, and software for controlling power levels and monitoring performance indicators like GSNR, OSNR, and SNR.

Cisco is renowned for its rapid development of groundbreaking products. In the Optics team, you’ll work on the design, development, and application of optical systems and devices. You will be integral to the creation and optimization of optical transceivers, ensuring high-speed data transmission for networking across various environments, such as data centers and campus networks. The role is essential in meeting the growing demands for reliable and high-capacity network connectivity, especially as hybrid work environments expand.

Minimum Qualifications
– Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
– Proficient in Python and basic optics.
– Able to work onsite in Maynard, MA, five days a week.
