Position Overview
This role is designed to work with minimal supervision, leveraging independent judgment to apply in-depth knowledge of HR practices, policies, and services to support the objectives of Detroit Medical Center (DMC). The primary responsibility is to meet the HR needs of both internal and external stakeholders, aligning people strategies with organizational goals. The position emphasizes customer service, continuous learning, and proactive improvement of HR service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Build and nurture positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
  2. Drive innovative ideas and implement change management practices effectively.

  4. Continuously enhance the efficiency and quality of HR processes and services.

  6. Provide strategic insights and solutions to address organizational and departmental challenges.
  7. Stay informed on federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies, to ensure compliance and ethical behavior.
  8. Utilize research and analytical skills to gather data, analyze trends, and provide actionable insights.
  9. Develop and implement training programs for employees, managers, and administration to enhance knowledge and compliance.
  10. Administer HR policies and programs, including compensation, benefits, employee relations, and training.
  11. Serve as a consultant on employee relations matters, offering guidance and recommendations to employees and management.
  12. Collaborate with Compensation staff to review and approve special compensation requests, job evaluations, and job descriptions.
  13. Adapt to changing work demands with flexibility and effective problem-solving.
  14. Proactively seek feedback to enhance performance and encourage professional growth.
  15. Cultivate a thorough understanding of the organizational needs of internal customers.
  16. Demonstrate behavior consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of DMC.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience as an HR Generalist across multiple HR disciplines.
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, or GPHR) preferred. A master’s degree in Human Resources or a related field is a plus.
  • Five to seven years of progressive HR experience with comprehensive knowledge of HR functions. Previous experience in labor relations is highly desirable.
