We are seeking a passionate and entrepreneurial team member dedicated to fostering inclusive workplace cultures from the ground up. In this remote role, you will work closely with our co-founders to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility within AP on AP. As an integral part of a founding team in its early startup phase, you will oversee the cultural and talent-building aspects of our Asian American-focused organization. This role provides the unique opportunity to shape and execute strategies for building and retaining a diverse, high-performing team.
AP on AP is a bootstrapped media startup currently in the prototyping phase of its first product, an Asian American weekly news podcast titled At the Moment. As the organization has yet to undergo seed funding, this position will initially be voluntary, requiring 10 hours per week. Until funding is secured, compensation will be equity-based.
Responsibilities
- Oversee candidate management throughout the hiring process, from initial contact to offer acceptance.
- Promote inclusivity by identifying and addressing barriers, creating solutions, and engaging team members in these initiatives.
- Develop frameworks to ensure efficient remote-first workplace operations.
- Implement tools, processes, and practices to facilitate feedback and team reviews.
- Foster positive, non-hierarchical team dynamics and address any arising issues.
- Lead payroll and benefits setup post-funding.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Ability to work remotely with reliable internet access.
- Commitment to 10 hours per week.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Previous startup experience.
